UNITED SUPERMARKETS ARENA

With generous support from individual and corporate donations, the United Spirit Arena opened on November 19, 1999. United Supermarkets, LLC, was a major donor and earned naming rights for the 15,000-seat multipurpose facility. It is referred to as the Entertainment Showcase of West Texas, hosting three sports for Texas Tech and bringing world-class entertainment to the South Plains region.

In 2014, United renewed their naming rights for the facility, at the same time changing the name to United Supermarkets Arena.

The USA has hosted a wide array of events including such headline acts as Elton John, George Strait, Cher, Aerosmith, the Eagles, Carrie Underwood, Pearl Jam, James Taylor, KISS, Shania Twain, Kelly Clarkson, and Rod Stewart. Motivational speakers such as John McCain and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor have been hosted in recent years at the venue.

The facility has earned numerous national honors as a Facilities and Event Management Magazine "Prime Site Award" award winner and has been ranked in the top-10 university venues, nationally, by Amusement Business Magazine.

UNITED SUPERMARKETS ARENA FACTS
The USA is home to the Texas Tech Basketball Hall of Fame and houses offices for both basketball staffs and the volleyball staff.

Fully appointed, private Locker rooms, player lounges and film rooms are housed on the event level of the arena for the three teams which compete in the venue.

The Margaret E. Wilson hydrotherapy center and the The Jay Crofoot & Gerald Myers Basketball Performance Center, along with athletic training facilities for basketball and volleyball use, are housed at the USA.

The USA operates 365 days a year.

A control room, located on the event level of the facility, houses total operations of the video boards for Jones AT&T Stadium, Rip Griffin Park (baseball) and the arena.

There is a banquet facility, the City Bank Conference room, and a new Club Red area, with a sports cafe-type atmosphere, available for rental which are used in conjunction with many athletic events held at the USA.
